The apocalypse occurs when all sentient beings have the same conscious thought stream. When each observer focuses on a single object of perception everything resets. At this point the new universe is created under the direction of the final object of perception. This can be understood as a collective creation caused by the thoughts and interpretations of each perceiver. If it is terrible then we are reborn in a terrible existence. It is subject to the law of Karma. This is beyond the scope of the individual cycling and is the culmination of the grand cycling.

However, the individual can also escape the cycles. When this is accomplished the individual’s consciousness collapses into a black hole (the stars can be understood as each conscious being) the black hole carries from this cycle into the next and is the only permanent object in an impermanent world.
